OUR VISION
Serve City Vision
Work hard, play hard, pursue your goals and have fun in the most family-friendly volleyball club in Chicagoland
Serve City Volleyball is dedicated to training athletes in our national, regional and short season programs to reach their highest potential on and off the court using our core values of Excellence, Relationships and Love for the Game.
Our club’s vision is achieved through three goals:
1. Provide the most affordable club volleyball program in the Chicago area.
We have intentionally made our program more inexpensive than every other volleyball club in the suburbs. Our fees are economical for girls of middle-income and working-class families, enabling anyone in the western suburbs to seize the opportunity to play and train in the most popular girls sport in the U.S.
Our lower registration fees also allow families to funnel more of their hard-earned money into other areas of their family budget instead of forcing them to become financially strapped or stretched to the limit by athletic club fees.
2. Offer the most family-friendly club volleyball program in Chicagoland.
While we encourage our players to invest their best effort into each practice and tournament, volleyball should not be the top priority of any athlete. Our director and coaches lead our teams with the understanding that faith, family and academics are more valuable than athletics. Our attendance policy reflects this philosophy, excusing player absences for important scheduling conflicts with church, school and extracurricular activities.
We also have a strong reputation for supporting athletes who participate in multiple sports, working with families of multi-sport players to accommodate scheduling conflicts whenever possible.
3. Train our athletes right where they are to help them reach their goals.
We recognize that athletes join club volleyball for a wide range of motivations. Among those reasons are:
training to play volleyball in college
improving at their position, or learning a new position
deepening their love for the game
growing into the best setter, hitter, defender or player they can be
making their middle school squad or playing for their high school varsity, JV, sophomore or freshman team
getting to be a key part of a fun, close-knit team
gaining vital training and playing experience on their volleyball journey
helping their team win and succeed on the court
enjoying the opportunity to play the sport they love
trying club volleyball for the first time to see if they want to pursue it
learning key lessons and character qualities to equip them to excel in life
simply training and playing because volleyball is so much fun
With athletes coming to Serve City for so many different reasons, our objective is to train our players first as individuals and second as contributors within the team dynamic. This way they learn how to help their team achieve its goals while they pursue their own personal volleyball goals.
Our training model sets clear benchmarks for skills, techniques, tactics and systems that we teach and train at each age level from 12 and under to 18U. The training at each age level intentionally builds on the other age groups as athletes advance through the program from year to year.
Our training approach focuses first on player development and our athletes’ long-term technical and tactical development and secondarily on developing our teams and infusing a lifelong love for the game in our athletes.
This training philosophy is facilitated by each team’s coach with support from our master coach, who designs practice plans and runs one practice a week for each of our teams in conjunction with each of our teams’ coaches to ensure that our teams and athletes are stretched to the edge of their abilities.
Our fun, high-energy, competitive practices seek to instill a growth mindset in our athletes where they believe they can learn nearly any technical skill or tactic through hard work, diligence and a teachable, can-do spirit.
