REGULAR SEASON TEAMS

Tryouts: September 1, 2020 for athletes who didn’t play with Serve City in 2019-2020 OR for SCV athletes who hope to play for a higher-level team this season.

• If you played for us last year, you are automatically placed on a team if you want a spot on the same competitive-level team as 2019-2020 (spots are available through online registration on a first-come, first-served basis).

  • If you played with us last year and want to move from a regional or short season team to a national team, just let us know and your daughter may be asked to attend a tryout Sept. 1 in order to earn a spot.

  • If you played with us last year and want to move from a national team to a regional or a short season team, just let us know and you will automatically be placed on a regional or short season team via online registration as spots are available (first come, first served).

• New SCV families need to send us their daughter’s past VB experience and may be asked to attend a tryout Sept. 1.

Season Starts: Sept. 14, 2020 (high school teams), Sept. 28, 2020 (middle school teams)

Ends: Feb. 7, 2021 for high school teams, Feb. 21 for middle school teams

Practices: 2x per week (36 total, same as past regional team seasons)

League Play or Tournaments: Presently not allowed by the governor as of July 29, but the moment they are reinstated our teams will compete in the Chicago Volleyball League. The CVL has moved up its league dates to accommodate the Illinois HIgh School Association season that now will take place Feb. 15 to April 30.

• CVL 15U to 18U teams will play Dec. 12-13, Jan. 9-10, Jan. 23-24 and Feb. 6-7 in smaller capacities as per the CVL.

• CVL 12U to 14U teams will play Dec. 19-20, Jan. 16-17, Jan. 30-31 and Feb. 20-21 in smaller capacities as per the CVL.

Travel, Overnight or Out-of-State Tournaments: None

Intra-Squad Scrimmages: We will pair teams for scrimmages each week as we wait for league or tournament play to resume in Illinois.

Fees:

• $960 + miscellaneous fees (we again offer the lowest full-season fee of any volleyball club in the Chicago area):

  • $30 practice t-shirt fee — waived if your daughter played with SCV last season and her practice tees are in good condition

  • $15 Junior Volleyball Association insurance fee

  • $40 practice ball fee — waived if you already have a volleyball

  • $30 playing fee per athlete per league or tournament day when leagues or tournaments resume

  • $150 uniform package after leagues or tournaments resume — waived if you played for SCV last year and your uniform is in good condition (our teams will wear the same style and color uniforms as last season)

  • Mandatory participation in Raise Craze annual fundraiser (goal for each athlete to raise $100 or more)

Discounts available:

• $100 sibling discount if two or more of your daughters play with Serve City

• $50 social media discount if you share our August 6 Facebook season announcement on your Facebook page and tag Serve City (www.facebook.com/servecityathletics)

• $100 referral for each new family that you refer to our club whose daughter makes and joins one of our regular-season teams

Financing, monthly payment plans, extended payment plans and limited scholarship funds are available on request.

EXTENDED NATIONAL TEAM SEASON

Dates: May 1 to June 15 (middle school teams), May 8 to June 13 (high school teams)

• Extended national season ends at the Asics Jr. National Championships at Navy Pier June 11-13 for 14U to 18U teams and June 14-15 for 13U and 12U

• $250 extended middle school national team season fee plus $30 per player per tournament day (5-6 total tournament days — all tournaments in the Chicago area, with no overnights)

• $220 extended high school national team season fee plus $30 per player per tournament day (5-6 total tournament days — all tournaments in the Chicago area, with no overnights)

SHORT SEASONS

Length: 8-week seasons

Age levels: 12U, 13U, 14U, 15U (and 16U if interest is expressed; contact jsmith@servecityvolleyball.org if interested)

Dates:

• Short Season #1: Sept. 14 to Nov. 7

• Short Season #2: Nov. 9 to Jan. 23 (no practices Nov. 22 to 29 and Dec. 21 to Jan. 3)

• Short Season #3: Jan. 25 to March 20

• Short Season #4: March 22 to May 22 (no practices over spring break March 28 to April 4)

Practices: 2x per week

Fees: $300 registration fee ($100 commitment fee plus $200 remaining fee) plus:

• $15 Junior Volleyball Association insurance fee

• $30 per player per tournament day fee when state allows tournaments (2-3 tournaments per season if available)

• $25 uniform fee if tournaments resume

CAMPS, CLINICS AND PRIVATE LESSONS

After an incredible summer of instruction that drew 834 registrations June 17 to Aug. 7, Serve City will be hosting clinics, camps and private training throughout the 2020-2021 season, particularly from Feb. 23 to April 30.
