 2022-2023 SEASON

Returners Invitations to Play with 630 Volleyball

Select Serve City athletes from the 2021-2022 season will receive official invitations to join 630 for the 2022-2023 season. These athletes are still required to attend tryouts. This time will be used to collect start of season metrics (vert, agility, height, reach, etc) and skill evaluations of all our players. All other athletes must register and attend tryouts.

Team Selection: Athletes will not receive a specific team at the conclusion of tryouts. There will be a multi-week period of evaluations following tryouts to determine if they will be on the 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 4’s or 5’s team. If for financial or time reasons a player is ineligible to play on 1’s or 2’s team, we must receive notice 24 hours before tryouts or commitment is made. Athletes can be moved up or down throughout the season and new players may be added to rosters at any time.

A letter from our Girls Director:

The plan was put in place when I arrived in September, implement a culture of success and growth. In my first season the program has seen the most athletes and teams it’s ever had (20 teams; 200+ athletes). We have, what I believe to be a strong foundation of athletes and families that can lead us into the next phase of our plan. That next phase is merging with the largest boys program in the country and becoming 630 Volleyball. With the merger comes a new 5+ court state of the art facility.

For 16 years I have worked to be the best leader to these athletes and provide the knowledge I have obtained over that time to set them up to achieve their highest goals. Whether that’s making varsity in high school, playing in college, or even coaching after their playing time is done, I give them every ounce of my being. I truly believe in each and every one of my athletes and I will do any and everything to get them wherever their dreams take them.

- Tom Welsh

 High School Tournament Descriptions

WINDY CITY POWER LEAGUE

The Windy City Power League tournaments will run the entirety of the season and will feature teams throughout the Midwest. It is important that we compete in these tournaments as it provides competitive gameplay experiences. In this series, we will compete against other teams to improve our placement within all the teams - similar to a regular season of school or profession sports.

TRAVEL TOURNAMENTS

Our travel teams and select regional teams will be traveling to numerous out of state tournaments throughout the season. These tournaments give us the opportunity to play teams that we may not face during the Windy City Power League but may face during Nationals. These tournaments have yet to be decided but may include Diggin in the Dells (Wisconsin Dells, WI) or the Presidents Day Classic (St. Louis, MO).

AAU NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Nationals Championship takes place during a 4-day span typically at the end of June or early July (specified dates and waves are yet to be released). This is an out of state tournament that takes place in Orlando, Florida.
